How to Plan Your Housewarming Party

A housewarming party is often the first impression your friends and family will have of your new space. If you take the right steps in planning your party, you will be able to relax and enjoy your night.

Tip: Don’t throw the housewarming party until you’re completely ready. If you take on the party too early, it will raise your stress level. The best time to do it is when you are all settled in and your house is ready to go. A big mistake people make is missing furniture or incomplete rooms – you’ll find yourself defending your home by saying things like: “Well…this room will look so much better when it’s done.”

Do You Need a Theme?

Very simple answer – no. Your theme is a housewarming party!

Invite Only

Depending on your craftiness level – this can be as simple as you want. For those with an extremely low craftiness level, you can build an easy evite or Facebook invitation. This is a simple solution to an invitation which can be put together in minutes, and all of your RSVPs will be in a convenient place.

For the craftier type, you can really have some fun with the invitations. You can hand craft invitations or buy some great cards. And, an invitation in-hand packs a bigger punch than just another inbox invite. Your guests will appreciate the extra time put into the invite!

Tasty Treats

This is an aspect of the evening where planning is extremely important. The better planned out your menu is, the more likely you will be to enjoy your party. The absolute best way to ensure a worry-free party is to hire a great caterer.

The time of day is a factor in what your menu will be. It also influences how much food you need to have. If you work with a caterer, they will be able to guide you. During the day you can have a nice pick-up spread. If you are having an open house type party, people will come and go as they please, and not expect a big meal. If your party is at night, people will expect a little bit more food. It doesn’t have to be a sit down dinner (it definitely can be if you want it to) but keep in mind that this will replace people’s dinners.

Location, Location, Location

Everyone knows location is the most important thing in real estate, and the same goes for where the focus of your party is too. If your party is in the summer, you will probably want to have some part of it outside. Just remember, it is a party to show off your house, so putting the bar or the food inside will encourage people to check out your new home.

Party Time

When it comes time for your party, you want to be able to mingle. If you keep all of these things in mind, you will! It’s time to show off your new space to all of your friends and family.
